90 Years Ago Today is an offshoot of PageF30.com with a much more specialized focus: simply to report on the news 90 years ago much as if it were happening today. Since the scope is quite simple it should be easy for others to contribute as well, and the only rule is that 1) it must come from a newspaper or journal written at the time, and 2) it must be from 90 years ago, give or take a week.

Why 90 years ago? Two reasons: 1) Newspapers before 1923 are not subject to copyright and that makes finding material easy for at least the first three years, and 2) The period starting in 1920 is extremely important to understand as while the economy was roaring on one side of the ocean, it was in tatters on another and a certain Adolf Hitler had recently joined a party which at the time had just renamed itself the NSDAP and was still very small. So let us look 90 years into the past with our 20/20 hindsight, and see what we can learn about the world at that time and parallels we can draw to the world of today.
